Performed a sod replacement for a customer in Bloomingdale last week. Zoysia is becoming a very popular grass in the Tampa Bay area. I will be following the progress of this lawn.
Will post a completed landscape picture later today once everything is installed. The plants going in are Loropetalum, Arboricola, Flax Lily, Maui Ixora, and Vibernum. It’s going to look great!
Performing sprinkler maintenance for one of our commercial clients in Brandon. Monthly checks are very important for commercial complexes because the problems can be corrected before major problems develop within landscapes. There were only a couple issues here, got them fixed now everything is 100% operational.
It’s a good idea to go ahead and replace your old worn out 4in pop-up sprinkler heads with 6 in pop-up sprinkler heads. They cost a little more but you won’t have to raise the sprinkler head nearly as often. In the long run the 6in pop ups will save you money. Add a doughnut to protect the head from lawn mower and car tires. Keep the head clean by spot spraying round-up on the sprinkler heads once a month to keep the grass from overtaking the heads.
When you are edging your lawn you will want to roll the edger over a little and angle the blade into the grass. This will give the grass a nice edge along concrete areas. This serves two purposes, first and most importantly it looks good. Second it will make it easier to blow the debris created from mowing into the grass. Give it a try and you will notice the difference in how your lawn looks. If your current lawn maintenance company isn’t giving you the edge you want give us a call and we will come out and provide you with a free lawn care estimate.
Proper lawn care requires clean edging. Use new blades and cut into the grass.
Look at that edge on one of our lawn care customers lawns in Valrico!
These valves are old! Replaced all the valves because it’s only a matter of time until the others go bad.
Learned this one the hard way. When you’re replacing a sprinkler timer take a second and take a picture of the wires and which irrigation zones they go to. This will save you time from having to figure out why zone one is now number seven. Changed this timer out for an irrigation maintenance customer in Valrico.
The new garbage trucks are too big and nailing tree limbs. Lawn care customer called ad wanted the tree trimmed so the branches wouldn’t get torn apart.
Don’t wait until its too late! If you want to be prepared and save money down the road, schedule an appointment with us to come out and located your lost sprinkler valves. We will come out with our valve locator and wire tracker to find your lost irrigation valves. Once located we will clean up around the valve box and inside so you can manually operate individual zones.
This Valve / Wire tracker is a life saver when you cannot find a broken wire or if you have lost your sprinkler valves
Fixing a broken sprinkler line for an irrigation maintenance customer in Valrico. How’d this pipe break I wonder… Probably has something to do with this palm tree being planted. Appears someone broke the pipe with a shovel while digging. Be careful when planting in your existing landscape. Easy to break a pipe with a shovel. Broken pipes lead to bad water pressure with your sprinkler system.
Tore out some grass and dirt for a lawn care customer in Fishhawk. After removing the grass and dirt we installed some corkscrew crotons and flax lily.
Crotons are a great way to add some color to your landscape. They look great and are low maintenance. Here is a picture of some in one of our Valrico properties we provide lawn care services.
Now that the cooler weather is here, It is a good time to go ahead and apply a granular weed and feed to your lawn. The cooler weather and shorter days will keep the weed killer from affecting the lawn. Highly suggest that you use a slow release water soluble fertilizer. This minimizes run off and contamination of the aquifer. Don’t forget to water the fertilizer in well after applying. Best way to apply is when the grass is slightly damp so the weed killer will stick to the leaves.
This job was a tough one. Not the prettiest with glue and primer showing on the pipes but we needed this to hold and left homeowner with a can of white spray paint if he would like to hide the primer and glue on the pipes.
Anyways, we converted the irrigation system from an old non operating well to the county water. What made the job difficult was that the entire area was covered with concrete and encased all of the sprinkler pipes. Luckily the valves were above ground. Here are a couple pics.
Some tree trimming the other morning on Bloomingdale. Can see the signs now.
