After testing the electrical current at the sprinkler valves we determined that the wires had been cut when we didn’t get a reading. So we hooked up a wire tracker and within a few minutes found where the wires had been cut. Sliced the wires together and got power back to the three valves!
We are often asked by our lawn care customers if there are any advantages to changing existing 4 inch sprinkler heads to 6 inch sprinkler heads. So we thought we would take a moment and explain the advantages of making the changes to your sprinkler system.
The majority of the lawns we service in Valrico and Fishhawk are St Augustine grass. This grass is cut between 4 to 5 inches in height. It is pretty obvious that the 4 inch heads would have a […]

Performed a sod replacement for a customer in Bloomingdale last week. Zoysia is becoming a very popular grass in the Tampa Bay area. I will be following the progress of this lawn.
Performing sprinkler maintenance for one of our commercial clients in Brandon. Monthly checks are very important for commercial complexes because the problems can be corrected before major problems develop within landscapes. There were only a couple issues here, got them fixed now everything is 100% operational.
It’s a good idea to go ahead and replace your old worn out 4in pop-up sprinkler heads with 6 in pop-up sprinkler heads. They cost a little more but you won’t have to raise the sprinkler head nearly as often. In the long run the 6in pop ups will save you money. Add a doughnut to protect the head from lawn mower and car tires. Keep the head clean by spot spraying round-up on the sprinkler heads once a month […]
Sprinkler repair tip, when replacing a sprinkler timer take a pic of the color wire to each specific zone
Learned this one the hard way. When you’re replacing a sprinkler timer take a second and take a picture of the wires and which irrigation zones they go to. This will save you time from having to figure out why zone one is now number seven. Changed this timer out for an irrigation maintenance customer in Valrico.
Don’t wait until its too late! If you want to be prepared and save money down the road, schedule an appointment with us to come out and located your lost sprinkler valves. We will come out with our valve locator and wire tracker to find your lost irrigation valves. Once located we will clean up around the valve box and inside so you can manually operate individual zones.
Fixing a broken sprinkler line for an irrigation maintenance customer in Valrico. How’d this pipe break I wonder… Probably has something to do with this palm tree being planted. Appears someone broke the pipe with a shovel while digging. Be careful when planting in your existing landscape. Easy to break a pipe with a shovel. Broken pipes lead to bad water pressure with your sprinkler system.

This is a yard we have been maintaining for years. Last year we put in a beautiful landscape. This yard is beautiful and Lawn Guru has been recognized again for the Great service and landscape we provided!
I’m sure everyone has noticed a dramatic increase in their lawns beauty with all of this rain. I wanted to take a few minutes to remind you a few different things to take into account with all of this rain.
Think of the environment!
With all of this rain you really do not need to be running your sprinkler system. If your rain sensor is not functional I would encourage you to either replace the sensor or hire someone to replace. […]
There are three things that make yards look great. Sharp blades, water, and fertilizer. If you are missing any of these three things your yard can only look so good.
Below is a picture of our blades at the start of each day.
